Changes for the Chintimini Chamber Music Festival | October 23, 2023

Dear Friends of Chintimini Chamber Music Festival,

You may have heard that there are a few changes underway at the Chintimini Chamber Music Festival.  Not only has our beloved co-founder, Joan Caldwell, passed away but also, our Artistic Director, Erik Peterson, has decided to step away from the Festival. So now we are in the process of seeking a new Artistic Director.  These transitions are similar to the changes that occur with any organization, but be assured that we intend to honor our past traditions and put on a fantastic Festival in June, 2024.  And we wish Erik continued success in his future musical endeavors.

The Chintimini Chamber Music Board acknowledges the generous estate gifts from Joan Caldwell, and former Board member Susan Meyer, given without requirement or restriction toward the continued success of our summer festivals. They, like all current and former Board members, donated their time and efforts, as well as financial support over the 22 years of the festival’s existence. Their gifts allow the establishment of an endowment fund to provide income to supplement ongoing donations and maintain quality while minimizing any future need to increase ticket prices. It will also add to our ability to meet increasing costs (printing, facilities, advertising, transportation, etc.,) and especially to maintain compensation for our paid festival participants—the artistic director and musicians—at rates that are among the leaders in our region.

We look forward to seeing you all at next summer’s Festival, where we can introduce to you our new Artistic Director—and present the great musicians and great music.

Sincerely,

The Board of Directors of the Chintimini Chamber Music Festival
