photo of Lauren ServaisLauren Servias has performed with Tacoma Opera, the Oregon Festival of American Music, Eugene Ballet, Cascadia Concert Opera, and Northwest Opera In Schools Etc. (NOISE), among other performing arts organizations.  She has held staff accompanist positions at Interlochen Arts Camp, Seattle Civic Dance Theatre, and Seattle Pacific University, and spent several years as an in-demand freelance accompanist in Seattle, Washington.

Servias holds a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano Performance from the University of Oregon. She was named a UO Graduate Teaching Fellow and accompanied several vocal and instrumental studios as well as the UO Opera Ensemble as part of her fellowship.  Her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance is from Central Washington University, where she also studied voice and organ. Servias’s primary teachers include: David Riley, Claire Wachter, Jeffery Meyer, John Pickett, Gerald Berthiaume, and Irene Glasford. She has also coached with Margaret Brink, Bonalyn Bricker-Smith, and Thomas Lymmenstull, and performed in master classes for Jean Barr and Jeffrey Biegel.

Servias began teaching collaborative piano and group piano courses at Oregon State University in 2012; she redesigned the OSU accompanying curriculum and taught beginning group piano, while also accompanying group voice courses and OSU’s premier women’s choir, Bella Voce.  In addition to her teaching and collaborative piano duties, Servias was the pianist for OSU’s 2017 production of Ned Rorem’s “Our Town” and the music director for OSU’s productions of Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me Kate and Louis Aubert’s “The Blue Forest”, which was awarded second place in its division in the National Opera Association’s annual opera production competition.  Servias is now currently a staff pianist at OSU and continues to play with Bella Voce, Opera Workshop, and the Corvallis-OSU Symphony.  She also is an active freelance accompanist, playing for vocal and instrumentalists in Oregon, and frequently collaborates with other OSU faculty members in concert.

Notable performances include the piano solo for Stravinsky’s Petrushka with the Corvallis-OSU Symphony, Bartók’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion at the Corvallis Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan’s “Sundays @ 3” concert series, Stravinsky’s Les Noces with Eugene Ballet, and performing with OSU’s Bella Voce at the International Society of Music Educators in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Servias is an active member of the Corvallis music community; she is the pianist (and former Director of Music) at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Corvallis, was chorus mistress and rehearsal pianist for the Willamette Valley Symphony’s production of “H.M.S. Pinafore”, and began serving as a board member of the Corvallis-OSU Symphony in 2017. Other local projects have included music directing “Oliver”, “Oklahoma”, and “Fiddler on the Roof” for the Corvallis School District Theatre and directing the Corvallis Imagination, Music, and Arts/”Play Corvallis, Play” ten piano concert.  Servias lives in Corvallis with her husband David and their daughter Natalie.
